CANADIAN FEDERATION OF UNIVERSITY WOMEN

With CFUW (Canadian Federation of University Women), a national organization of more than 10,000 members in over 122 clubs, and affiliated with IFUW (International Federation ofUniversity Women), an international organization of 77 federations and associations, the purpose of CFUW/Perth &District is:

  1. To assist in developing a sound concept of educational values and in maintaining high standards of public education in our community; to encourage advanced study and research by women.
  2. To arouse and sustain among members an interest in all aspects of public affairs in the political, social, cultural, and scientificfields; to encourage an active participation in such affairs by qualified women; and to provide an opportunity for effectual, concerted action.
  3. To foster a sense of responsibility and to encourage women to place their education and professional training at the service of the community in local, national, and international fields; to be concerned with human rights and at the same time to safeguard and improve the economic, legal, and professional status of women.
  4. To take action in concert with the International Federation of University Women, of which Canadian Federation of University Women is a member, to effect change at the international level; to encourage friendship, cooperation and understanding among educated women worldwide.

CFUW Perth and District began in 1970 and has been active in Perth for over 40 years.
